Welcome to Clinical Cardio

A Smarter Way to Train Your Heart

At Clinical Cardio, we believe that your heart deserves more than generic advice and guesswork. Whether you're recovering from a heart condition, aiming to improve your fitness, or simply want to age with strength and confidence, we provide a smarter, safer, and more effective way to move forward.

Founded by board-certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist David Drake, MS, CEP, Clinical Cardio offers individualized, ECG-monitored exercise therapy designed to optimize heart health, aerobic performance, and boost longevity. Located in downtown San Luis Obispo, our private clinic combines the precision of clinical-grade testing with the personal attention of one-on-one training.

What sets us apart? Every session is based on real data—your data. We may begin with a comprehensive cardiac exercise test to evaluate your cardiovascular fitness, cardiac rhythm, blood pressure response, and more. From there, we build a tailored training plan that evolves with you. With continuous ECG monitoring, we track your heart's response to exercise in real time, ensuring every step you take is safe, effective, and purposeful.

David Drake, our Clinical Exercise Physiologist brings over 20 years of experience working in hospital-based cardiac rehab at French Hospital as well as teaching exercise electrocardiography at Cal Poly. David has helped more than 3,000 Central Coast residents recover from heart attacks, heart surgery, and chronic heart conditions. Now in private practice, he's making this gold-standard level of care available to anyone ready to take charge of their heart health—no referral or insurance required.

Whether you're a cardiac patient, active older adult, weekend athlete, or just looking to improve your aerobic fitness, Clinical Cardio offers a new path forward: science-backed, individually guided, and built to help you live better, longer.
